You weren't supposed to hang the clock by the big, brass ring but I suspect some people did.  Alot of these clocks are bald on top.  See that flyspeck above the hands?  That's the window for the reset signal.  This was the last kitchen model designed with one tho' I think the Diameter  was the last you could buy  with a signal.
