561 or "AA"

Now... a $24 value for a limited time only in a Telechron SELF-STARTING SYNCHRONOUS ELECTRIC CLOCK
Special Campaign Model -- AA -- $9.95 MAHOGANY FINISH CASE WITH 4 1/2" IVORY ENAMEL DIAL, BROWN FINISH NUMERALS AND HANDS.  WIDTH 17 1/4", DEPTH  3 7/16", HEIGHT 7 3/16"

A special campaign model.  No frills but a big, solid mantel clock you could pick up for not a lot of money ($9.95).   561 (usually marked "AA" on the bottom) and the 562 outsold all other large, tambour models combined !  The case was certainly cloned from the Adams but the innards vary.  Like the 355, the AA was first electric clock many people were able to afford, especially in the pit of the Great Depression.

"AA"?  "American Agriculturalist"?  Coincidence?  Yeah, probably.
