664 "The Dorchester"
CASE, SATINWOOD WITH INLAY FINISH , SPANISH HIGH-LIGHTED 5"
GOLD FINISH DIAL HEIGHT 8 5/8", WIDTH 19 9/16",
DEPTH 5 1/2" $33 .00
The “Dorchester" model comes from the Hepplewhite period design
and Hepplewhite principles have been carried out conscientiously
in this model. Hepplewhite was more or less a contemporary
cabinet maker with Chippendale but the former never applied any
suggestions of Chinese architecture in his work. Hepplewhite was
fond of the sweeping curve. Most characteristic of all, however,
is the inlay along the base. Hepplewhite used this extensively
and the “Lynnwood" is strictly after his
ideas. The “Dorchester" supplements the “Lynnwood" in that it is
a larger clock in every proportion. The case is veneered
satinwood with a Spanish high-lighted finish.
